The annual spring luncheon was held March 18, at the Augusta Country Club.  Our special guest, Mark Ballard, was fantastic!   He is a gardener, designer, author, artist, chef, you name it, he does it!!   www.markballard.com

A large crowd, approximately 130, attended and enjoyed a great program, lunch, and silent auction.  Special guests included:  Sara Lanier, Garden Club of Georgia President, and Jane Hersey, Azalea District Director.  They presented Karen Oliver and Betty Davis with special awards for the Flower Show held in Thomasville in February.

Very worthy ACGC “Clubs of the Year”, were given awards:  Iris Garden Club, and Spade & Trowel Garden Club.  Pat Slater, awards chairmen, presented them with their plaques. Pat Hathaway, is President of the Iris Club, and Frankie Wilensky is the President of the Spade and Trowel Club.  CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Mary Byrd, was this year’s winner of the President’s Award.  She has been so active for many years in her local club, Pine Needle of Augusta, and also the ACGC, Azalea District, and the Garden Club of Georgia.  She also is the teacher of the “Little Sprouts” GC at the Episcopal Day School in Augusta.  She is truly amazing.

Two new clubs that joined the ACGC this year were recognized:  After Six, and English Ivy.  New Officers for the term  2009-2011 were installed by President Jil Powell.  Pat Hathaway is the new president and looks forward to a great 2 years!!
